Graduate Connection: Our Savior’s women like to remember our most recent high school graduates as they go into the next phase of their lives. If you would be willing to connect with just one graduate, please join us on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 7:15 pm in the Family Room at church to learn more about this special ministry. Or, if you are unable to attend, let the office know of your interest, 651-439-5704, ext. 10 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Congregational Opportunity: On the evening of October 18th, OSLC has the opportunity to attend a Red Carpet Premier for the release of a new movie “Same Kind of Different as Me.” This is a story of homelessness, hunger, helping hands, and hope in today’s society. For this event, we will have an entire screen set aside just for OSLC at the White Bear Lake Cinema. Two days after the premier, the movie will be released nationally. This special premier is being sponsored by the Union Gospel mission, Twin Cities. If you would like free tickets to attend, please sign-up at the welcome desk. (Note: The cost of tickets has been paid by a member of OSLC.)
Support for the Mlafu Mission Trip: We are in need of 3 large suitcases that can be left in Tanzania and 2018 wall calendars with photos of places in the U.S. Please leave at the Welcome Desk or in the office workroom. Pastor Dale, Cindy Gackle and Sue Hedlund will be taking these items to our Mlafu companion congregation in Tanzania October 23-November 3. Thank you for your support!
Mid-week Counter Needed: We are looking for a volunteer who would be willing to work with other individuals on Tuesdays, 11:30 am—12:15/12:30 pm as a mid-week counter. Please contact the church office if you would be interested in serving on this team. Office: 651-439-5704, ext. 10 or email@example.com. Thank you!
We will begin a new session of Inspirational Yoga on Oct. 7th 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. We usually meet in the Gathering Area but will need to relocate to the Children’s Gathering Area or the Youth Room (which ever is available) when necessary. We will begin this practice discussing how we want to move our practices forward during the next 7 months while Dr. Lyne Seppala will be gone. All ages, guys, gals, no experience needed, come and bring a friend and a yoga mat. For questions or to sign up for the new session call Heidi Puckett at 439-9196 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meals from the Heart — Hope Starts When Hunger Ends! Sign-up to help pack meals at “Meals from the Heart” by Mano Amiga on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, from 4 to 6 pm at 5600 Memorial Ave which is located behind Stillwater Motors (on the same side of the road as the Post Office). We are looking for participants to donate 2 hours of their time and a donation of $10 per participant. The $10 must be paid no later than the Wednesday before the event (Nov. 1). Checks should be made out to OSLC with “meal packing” in the memo line and dropped in the slot on the Welcome Desk. The additional $15/person needed will be covered by Mission & Outreach and memorial funds. People doing the meal packing event should dress in casual clothes…things that could get dirty/dusty and you must wear close-toed shoes. Sign-up sheet is located on the Welcome Desk in the Gathering Area.
November & December Ushers & Greeters Needed! You can view the openings and sign up from our church website under “What’s Happening” www.oslcstillwater.org. Thank you!
The October Book of the Month Club will meet on Monday, October 30th to discuss Animal Farm by George Orwell. A book bag kit consisting of ten copies of the book plus discussion questions has been checked out from the Stillwater Public Library for a period of six weeks. This gives participants ample time to read and be ready to discuss the title. The bag kit will be housed in the adult library in the cupboard under the book shelves. When you have finished reading Animal Farm, return it to the book bag kit.
Saturday, October 7, will be the 1 year anniversary of the death of Ron Lewis. Please remember this anniversary in prayer as we ask for personal strength for his family.
PLANNING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER!
We are inviting you to complete the Church Assessment Tool (CAT), an on-line instrument that will help leaders gauge the strength, vitality, and trends in our church. The information gained from this assessment will be valuable in helping the Church Board of Our Saviors as they make decisions about the future of the congregation.
You should already have received an email with a unique link to the CAT. We are asking you to
go online by clicking on the link provided and tell us about your experiences in and priorities for our church. Please do not discuss the survey or your answers with others as this may influence their answers. If you are unable to complete the on-line version and need a paper copy, please come to the office, and we will provide one for you along with a self-addressed stamped return envelope. Also, opportunities to complete the survey including assistance using the tool will be available between services and on Wednesday evenings in the Family Room during the month of October. The survey will close at noon on Monday, October 30.
If you have questions, please contact Ray Valley, John Lasswell, or any other member of the Board.
