Welcome to Our Savior’s!
Announcements for Sunday, February 10, 2019
Flowers today have been given by Jan Leppla in love for everyone throughout the world.
Adult Education: Guest speaker, Lawyer Marc Prokosch, Immigration and Asylum. Former chair, American Immigration Lawyers Ass’n, Minnesota and Dakota Chapter. Join us at 9:15 am today in the sanctuary.
Gratitude Containers — The women’s team will again be encouraging members to take part in the sharing of gratitude with others. On Feb 17 gratitude containers will be offered with the purpose of encouraging each of us to be consciously grateful each day by placing a coin in the container while remembering what it is we are grateful for. These will be collected in November and the coins will be given to others in need. In 2018 gratitude coins added up to $850 which was sent to Lutheran Disaster Response for those affected by fires and floods. Stop at the table in the gathering area and pick up a container. GRATITUDE – take a dose every morning – may cause shifts in perspective – may cause feelings of abundance – decreased feelings of fear and anxiety!
Meet our Muslim Neighbors — While planning last year’s adult forums, some of the adult ed committee felt that getting to know our Muslim neighbors was important but didn’t know where to start. After some exploring a ministry called ‘Let’s Talk’ was located. It is an ongoing relationship between St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in West St Paul and the Masjid At Taqwa mosque in St Paul. Members of these two organizations meet monthly. They eat/snack together, share highs and lows, pray for one another, and hold respectful conversation with one another. Getting to know one another has been beneficial to all who have participated and has resulted in caring relationships. There is a new mosque in nearby Afton and Our Savior’s would like to get to know these new neighbors. The adult ed committee will host a gathering at Our Savior’s on Thursday, February 21, at 7:00 pm in Education Room 7-9. This will be an opportunity to get to know our new neighbors and to have open dialogue with them. We hope you will join us.

Ronning Family: As many of you have heard, Sharon Ronning’s son Kipp and 12 year old grandson Koen lost their home in a fire. They are both ok, but still need many items. Thank you to all who have already donated to their family. If you are interested in contributing items, please talk to Stacy Meyer, Parish Nurse, to find out what items are still needed. There is a basket outside the Parish Nurse office and you can drop items in there. Thank you!
Message from the Church Board — The Board of Administration position selections for 2019 were made at our first meeting following the annual congregational meeting on February 7. Here is your board:
• Meredith Caskey, President
• Greg Otsuka, Vice President
• Christopher Buse, Treasurer
• Ray Valley, Secretary
• Amy Stoffer, Member at large
• Susan Amundson, Member at large
The convener of the call committee for a new pastor per OSLC bylaws is the Board Vice President. The rest of the call committee was installed at the annual congregational meeting and will commence with the call process, leveraging the work completed by the transition team to create our Ministry Site Profile. We will continue to provide updates to the process. The coming year has a lot of exciting opportunities for our congregation and we look forward to serving as your board!
