Adult Education: No Adult education today. Plan to join us next Sunday, February 10, at 9:15 am for guest speaker – Lawyer Marc Prokosch, Immigration and Asylum Law. Former chair, American Immigration Lawyers Ass’n, Minnesota and Dakota Chapter.
Graduate Care Packages — Cookies are needed for a care package mailing to our 2018 High School graduates. If you are able to provide some cookies, please let Nancy Fjestad know. The cookies are needed for Monday, Feb. 11, at 10:00 am. Please no peanuts in the cookies and they can be 3 per package for 12 graduates. Thank you!
VBS Planning — We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for Vacation Bible School! Please contact Darla Goble, firstname.lastname@example.org, if you are interested in being on a VBS committee. The committee will help with planning and implementing our VBS program.
Gratitude Containers — The women’s team will again be encouraging members to take part in the sharing of gratitude with others. On Feb. 3 and Feb 17 gratitude containers will be offered with the purpose of encouraging each of us to be consciously grateful each day by placing a coin in the container while remembering what it is we are grateful for. These will be collected in November and the coins will be given to others in need. In 2018 gratitude coins added up to $850 which was sent to Lutheran Disaster Response for those affected by fires and floods. Stop at the table in the gathering area and pick up a container. GRATITUDE – take a dose every morning – may cause shifts in perspective – may cause feelings of abundance – decreased feelings of fear and anxiety!
Meet our Muslim Neighbors — While planning last year’s adult forums, some of the adult ed committee felt that getting to know our Muslim neighbors was important but didn’t know where to start. After some exploring a ministry called ‘Let’s Talk’ was located. It is an ongoing relationship between St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in West St Paul and the Masjid At Taqwa mosque in St Paul. Members of these two organizations meet monthly. They eat/snack together, share highs and lows, pray for one another, and hold respectful conversation with one another. Getting to know one another has been beneficial to all who have participated and has resulted in caring relationships. There is a new mosque in nearby Afton and Our Savior’s would like to get to know these new neighbors. The adult ed committee will host a gathering at Our Savior’s on Thursday, February 21, at 7:00 pm in Education Room 7-9. This will be an opportunity to get to know our new neighbors and to have open dialogue with them. We hope you will join us.
