Welcome to Our Savior’s!
Announcements for Sunday, May 26, 2019
Flowers today are given by Bob & Laurie Burns in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary.
Call Committee Update: The Call Committee completed its initial round of interviews with each of the candidates who were selected by the Synod as potential fits for OSLC. The Committee invited some of those candidates for a second interview, and we have begun the second round of interviews. We are moving as expeditiously as schedules allow, but we also are proceeding deliberately to allow for discussion, discernment, and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We will continue to keep you informed of our progress, and we ask that you please continue to keep the Call Committee in your prayers.
VBS Decorating at Shepherd of the Valley church on May 31 from 4-9 pm for anybody who can come to help make shared decorations. Dinner will be served. We are still in need of many volunteers for set up, clean up and the week of VBS! Sign up on our website to register to help!
What Would Jesus Recycle? The newly-created Care of Creation Committee has begun meeting to help Our Savior’s and its congregation find ways to become better stewards of the air, water, and land given by our Lord. The committee will work to provide education, opportunities, ideas, and suggestions to lead each of us to respond with hope and action to global environmental concerns which put God’s people and creation at risk. We believe every person makes a difference in protecting God’s creation. Our Mission: The Care of Creation Committee’s work is part of a grassroots effort in a growing a number of congregations to live out the 1993 ELCA social statement “Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope, and Justice.” Watch for future messages about how you can care for God’s creation. If you’d like to help, contact Don Schuld, (651)491-2078.
Stephen Ministry: Support is something we all need. God gives us support through our Christian brothers and sisters. Let us all be sensitive to one another’s needs and take time to support each other through prayers, phone calls, friendly chats after church, and even visits. Also, remember that we have Stephen ministers who are willing to give their support. For more information about Stephen Ministry, please contact Becky Maier, 651-271-3758, or our parish nurse, Stacy Meyer, 651-439-5704, ext. 109.
Summer Stretch registration is now open for Jr. High students from grades 6th (completed) to 9th (finished)! For 4 Wednesdays in June we will meet for service work in the morning and a fun activity in the afternoon with the exception of the last week where we will be spending all day at Valley Fair! Registration forms available at the “Information Corner” of the Gathering Area.
On June 2nd our mission trip youth will host a fundraiser called Wash and Worship! This is where you can drop off your car before you head into church and we will have it washed for you by the time you get out! We’ll be set up in the west parking lot (the big one) and we would love to wash your car. We hope you can come and support our students and leaders as they raise funds for our summer mission trip to Portland, OR.
Dementia Friendly Sunday is June 9. On that day, we will be joining other churches in the St. Croix Valley in providing a dementia friendly worship experience at both services. Familiar music, Bible verses, liturgy, and personal stories will be used to provide a nurturing space for people with dementia and their caregivers. There will also be a free Music By Heart Community Sing Along at Hudson’e Lakefront Park at 1:00 pm. We hope you can join us for this special day! Thank you to the St. Croix Valley Dementia Friendly Communities Coalition for supporting this effort!
Summer Schedule — Worship times at 8:00 & 9:30 am beginning June 2 – August 25
