January 5 – John Hodler and Jeff Anderson will share how OSLC can collaborate with the sheltering of the homeless in our community via the Community Emergency Winter Shelter. They are working with the county and other congregations and organizations to provide shelter for the homeless on those especially cold days/nights.
January 12 – Justin Kolb and his wife Pastor Kirsten Fryer recently served as missionaries through the ELCA in Cairo, Egypt. Come and hear stories about their ministry to a refugee population

February 2 – Rev. Justin Grimm, assistant to the Bishop of the Saint Paul Area Synod will preach and lead the adult forum today. During the education hour, he will offer updates on mission opportunities in the synod.
February 9 – Carolyn Healy and Joanne Corlett from Be SMART. The Be SMART program focuses on education and awareness about child gun deaths and responsible gun storage. The Be SMART framework is designed to help parents and adults normalize conversations about gun safety and take responsible actions that can prevent child gun deaths and injuries.
February 23 – Rachel Mann served as a YAGM (Young Adult in Global Mission) for the year in Madagascar in 2017 and will share her experience as a young adult. A good session for the youth to also attend.
March 1 – An individual from Lutheran Mideast Development will give updates on the ongoing ministry of LMD as well as insights into the current and ongoing situation in the Middle East.
March 15 – Rev. Kent Johnson will highlight the ELCA’s Peace Not Walls Network and the work of that network to protect the human rights of Palestinian children living under Israeli military occupation. He will help answer the question, “How can we be instruments of God’s work for peace and justice for Israelis and Palestinians?”
March 22 – Imprisoning a Generation – A 50 minute documentary film following the stories of four Palestinians who have been detained and imprisoned under the Israeli military system. Their perspectives, along with voices of their families, combine to form a lens into the entangled structures of oppression that expand well beyond the prison walls. This film is a follow up to last week’s presentation by Pr. Kent Johnson.
March 29 – Rev. Dr. Rich Melheim of Faith Incubators will preach and lead adult forum today. During the education hour, he will share with us his research on the transformative impact of intergenerational ministries.
April 5 – Join Today Show-featured Lutheran Mikah Meyer for a presentation about his nonstop, 3-year road trip to all 419 National Park Service sites. As heard on NPR, Mikah lived in a cargo van while traveling 200,000 miles, setting a world record as the first person to experience all of America’s NPS sites in one continuous journey. He shares how his trip’s genesis relates to his ELCA pastor father, the struggles and triumphs of the road, and how America saved this project by rallying behind the story of a gay Lutheran.
